Trip to Victoria

We had a great trip to Victoria last weekend. We took the fairy from Anacortes, which is an absolutely gorgeous trip. While we were there we saw all the stuff downtown, including the wax museum, and we enjoyed the Butchart Gardens. Those were magnificent. They even had a firework show that was spectacular.

Our hotel was across the street from the legislative building. We had our car, so we took several scenic drives. We also attended one of the Victoria wards.

Lydia was climbing on the base of some statues as we walked downtown and some Japanese tourists just had to take a picture with her in it rather than just a boring statue. They all took turns trying to get her to make peace signs with them. But something even more interesting happened every time Lydia found something to climb on---she started orating a speech. It was so funny to watch her give a soap-box speech from the steps of the legislative building, "Everyday we go poopoo."

I should mention that Tyler has been saying several words. He says "dada," "mama," and "this." But the word he says with the most urgency is "ball." He absolutely loves balls.

Tyler's Birthday

Tyler is one years old! How did the time fly by so quickly? He's almost a big kid, but to us he's still our sweet little baby!

The celebration took place while we were in Detroit visiting Matthew, Summer and the kids. Tyler liked his cake. He used his hand to get a sample after which he just did a face plant. Watching him we realized that the use of hands or utensils while eating is highly overrated.

Also, we had to literally make Tyler open all his presents. He was not into wripping the wrapping, he just wanted to play with his new toys. For a birthday activity, we hung up a bunch of baloons from the garage ceiling and let the kids run through them, spraying them with silly string. They loved it. Then we went to Chucky Cheese's and that was a ton of fun also. Of course, and sadly, Tyler would not remember this celebration, but we will never forget it.
