Boogers on the floor

Nyle is so cute, even when he's sick.

On Monday Nyle was throwing up from a bug he caught from the cousins.  He woke at 5:30am crying and then threw up on the floor (and Larisa's leg, since she came running to help him).  Then Larisa rushed him to the bathroom.  As she held him in place next to the toilet, he kept pulling away from her saying "boogers on the floor."  He was concerned about the mess, as he always is, that clean freak.  "Boogers on the floor.  Go check it."

The rest of the day we were driving home from Detroit to New Jersey.  Nyle three up twice in the car, and we laughed each time about him calling it boogers.  We also were amused by Lydia's fear of throw-up.  She was sitting next to him and supposed to help hold a bowl when he needed it, but any time she thought he was close to spewing she couldn't help herself but turn and curl her body as far in the other direction as possible.

Dream Come True

I'm teaching a required sophomore course that I call Information Signals.  It's similar material to what is usually called signals and systems at other universities.  It was my favorite undergrad class.

After one of my office hours, I casually asked one of the students if the class was interesting.  His response:  "It's amazing!  I've been wanting to know this since I was a little kid.  It's a dream come true."  There wasn't even any sarcasm in his voice.
