Lydia's Best Day Ever

Lydia has picked up a habit of expressing approval and disapproval by exclaiming that this is the best day ever or the worst day ever (in a very different voice for the two cases).

For example, yesterday they played in jumpy houses, got balloons, and Lydia got her face painted in the morning as we watched Larisa run a 5K.  Then we went to a sports clinic and football game at Princeton (they surprised me and actually took interest in the football game and didn't want to leave, after first complaining that they had to go).  At the football game Lydia told me that it was the best day ever.

One the other hand, when we showed up to church today and Lydia discovered that it was fast Sunday (which means they don't eat snacks in Sacrament meeting) she pouted that this was the worst day ever.

Nyle's shoes

Today I put some sandals on Nyle for church.  He could feel the difference.  He stood up and appeared to have his shoes glued to the ground.  He sort of shifted his weight and thought about taking a step, but his feet wouldn't move, even though I was encouraging him.  Finally he started walking, and it was fine but a little bit awkward.  Then he bent down and tried to take the shoes off.

It didn't take long for him to continue walking like normal in his new shoes.  He only had a few stumbles.

Little explorer

This afternoon, we took the kids to a nearby park on a walk. Tyler insisted that we go somewhere with the roots. By that he meant forested area. He loves hiking, wading in creaks and looking for new trails. So we turned of the main road which lead us along a reservoir and walked into the woods. It was so fun. We could barely keep up with him. He ran ahead and kept finding new paths to follow. We found horse tracks,      recently fallen trees (we figured they went down during resent hurricane), a nice little creak and colorful mushrooms which Tyler demolished with a stick. We loved this adventure. Tyler was the only one that voiced his disappointment about this trip. It was not long enough!
