Forgetting Head

I took Lydia to school yesterday. Our common routine is that we're almost ready to go and then Lydia takes a long time getting her socks on or something. She gets distracted very easily. This time I told her to hurry and get her socks on, and she got upset because she doesn't like to hurry. In the car on the way to school I explained why she ends up being rushed, and that if she'd finish getting herself ready before playing she wouldn't have to hurry at the end. I told her that she knows what she needs to do to get ready for school. Then she plead, "I can't think of everything I need to do because my head is just a forgetting head."

Later in the day she cheered up when I came to eat lunch with her. She's been asking me to do that, so I surprised her. I walked in to the lunch room to look for her and she spotted me first. She was sitting with her friend Elsie with a shy grin on her face. I ate lunch with them and went to the playground. All of her friends tried to get my attention the whole time, to show me all the Halloween decorations and the have me watch them on the playground. But Lydia got the most attention from me. It was fun.

Make you sad and make you cwy

Tyler has been expressing himself more these days. When he got frustrated that Lydia and I were not letting him make wrong moves in checkers, he said, "fine, I'm not going to play with you anymore," and walked away pouting. I felt bad and chased after him. He also looses his patience and gives up when he waits too long for me to play with him.

The expression that Tyler has been using a lot lately when he's upset is, "I'm going to make you sad and make you cwy." That usually happens after I tell him that 'quiet time' is not over or something.

Lydia the Sleep-walker

Tonight I was up with the baby, so I watched 'I am Legend.' It was my first try of my new Blu-Ray Drive. Beautiful.

Anyway, I heard a noise upstairs, so I went up to find Lydia walking around in Tyler's room. I'm not sure what she was doing, or if she ever even went to sleep in her room, but when I got there she was clearly not conscious. She was just staring at the ground as she slowly walked around the room. I picked her up and said, "do you need to go peepee?" No reply. Finally I got a response out of her. She said 'no,' so I tucked her back into bed.

A few minutes later I heard more noise and quickly went up. This time she was in the bathroom trying to quickly get her pants off and sit on the toilet. When she finally sat down on the toilet with the lid down, I rushed in to help her, worried that she'd make a mess if she didn't notice. She was panicking. Everything turned out okay. Even after using the toilet, she was mostly asleep. I had to wash her hands for her. I'm glad she's figured out how to sleep-walk her way to the toilet when she needs to. I was laughing and amazed.
